July and August
July 1: Waves of Music with Robert Resnick and Marty Morrissey. Family evening of rousing story and song.
7:00 p.m. in the Rotary Room
July 6- August 11: Where in the Wet World is Rocky? Weekly prizes for solving Rocky's whereabouts.
July 7 - August 4: Story Science with Ms. H2O. Explore the wonders of water with stories, songs,
games and experiments. Wednesdays @ 10:30-11:30, Rotary Room.
Children 3-6 years old.
July 8,15,22,29, August 5: Wet and Wild Thursdays: Dive into art, science, dance, drama and music.
Hands-on-workshops for 6-12 year olds. Thursdays @ 2 p.m.
Pre-registration required.
July 14,21: Splish, Splash - Movie Bash. Stay wet and cool with these water themed movies. Snacks
provided. Shown in large screen format 2:30 p.m. Rotary Room. Call for movie titles.
July 23, August 6: Lego Club: brick building challenges for Lego masters and wanna-be's.
3 p.m. Rotary Room. Pre-registration required.
July 28: Building Fairy Houses. Families are invited to create fairy houses for the Library's fairy village.
Area expert Adrian Sweeney will assist families in creating the perfect fairy home. 6:30 - 8:30
Raindate: Thursday July 29th. Pre-registration required.
July 28, 29: Mystery Writer's Workshops: Join Josh Rupp for 2 afternoons of words and intrigue. Unlock
the mysteries of writing. 5th - 8th graders. 3:00 p.m. Pre-registration required.
July 12 - 26: Water Your Mind...Play Scrabble: 5th - 8th grade beginning and advanced players are invited
join in the fun. Mondays, 2:00 - 3:30 p.m. Led by Sandy Loiterstein. Pre-registration required.
August 2: Rock the Boat Book-to-Movie Club. Read the book Inkheart by Cornelia Funke and watch
the movie. 4:30 - 6:30 in the Rotary Room. 5th - 8th graders. Books may be picked up at
the Library in advance. Pre-registration required.
August 11: Waterfest! Special event to celebrate a summer of reading. Cool off with wet and wild games,
watery crafts and swimmingly good treats. Wear clothes fit for water play. 2:00 p.m. Library
Courtyard.
TBA: Water Works: Construct a Model Watershed. A staff member from the Grafton Nature
Museum will guide children in the construction of a large-scale model of a Vermont
watershed. Understand how to protect clean water sources now and for the future.

All summer: What Floats Your Boat? Puzzle Center: Choose from a boatload of word searches, scrambles,
crossword puzzles, dot-to-dots, coloring sheets, drawing and writing challenges. Fill out a raffle
ticket for each task you complete to enter a weekly contest for a FREE BOOK! 3 Winners
will be drawn each week.
Reading Is a Splash: Summer reading programs through June and July.
Programs for the entire family which encourage reading as a fun activity.
Participants will qualify to enter weekly drawings for prizes.
Read to Me Program: A special program for children who are not yet reading.
Readers Program: Kindergartners - 4th graders, or 5th and above: Sign a reading contract
promising to read.
Family/Adult Reading Program. Adults are encouraged to join as individuals or part of a group.
Provide a role model for children and show them that reading is both fun and important.
August 28: Wallworks: Art at the Library. Opening reception for our new installation
Tony Conner: Vermont in its Seasons. Meet the artist and enjoy light
refreshments. 1-3 p.m. All are welcome.

Library Card Sign Up Month: Sign up for a library card and check out all the Library has to offer.
13: Library Open House. Sign up for a library card and enter drawing for reading themed prizes.
Friends of the Library Reading Series: How they Lived. All discussions begin at 2:00 p.m. in the
Library Rotary Room. Light refreshments served.
19: The Lives of the Artists by Giorgio Vassari. Discussion led by Elayne Clift. 2 p.m.

4: Archer Mayor will discuss and sign copies of his latest novel: Red Herring. 7:00 p.m.

4: Bennington County Caregivers Coalition Workshop: Coping with Holiday Stress. 7:00 p.m.
Pre-registration recommended. Light supper provided.
8: Howard Frank Mosher will present a slide show and talk entitled: Transforming History
into Fiction: the Story of a Born Liar.” 7:00 p.m.
